September meeting of BRICS NU ITG on Economics in St.Petersburg

On September 15-16 National Research University Higher School of Economics (HSE)  hosted the meeting of BRICS NU International Thematic Group (ITG) on Economics. The meeting was arranged at the HSE campus in Saint Petersburg within the frames of the conference 'BRICS Global Business & Innovation'. The first two sessions of the meeting were attended by members of  BRICS NU ITG on BRICS studies.

Altogether the meeting has been attended by 18 participants who represented 10 Universities – members of BRICS NU, including Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) and University of Campinas (UNICAMP) from Brazil; Higher School of Economics (HSE), People’s Friendship University of Russia (RUDN University), Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO), St. Petersburg State University (SPSU) and Ural Federal University (UrFU) from Russia, Beijing Normal University (BNU) and Henan University (HENU) from China; and University of Cape Town (UCT) from South Africa.

The meeting was opened by Boris Zhelezov, Deputy First Vice Rector (HSE), and Marina Batalina, Head of the International Cooperation Office (HSE). They outlined the key targets of the meeting and made a BRICS NU documents quick overview.

The major corner stones of development of BRICS NU were presented by Maxim Khomyakov (UrFU), member of the International Governing Board of the BRICS NU.

During the sessions, chaired by Alina Shcherbakova (HSE) and Ekaterina Degtereva (RUDN University), representing universitites – official Russian ITG members, participants considered the major problems on the way towards development of BRICS NU master programs  in Economcis, offered solutions of these problems, presented the joint Master´s programs and approved the renovated Road Map to implement the presented and prospective programs including differed academicians and students mobility patterns. In particular it has been decided to develop an agreement on BRICS mobility which would allow to set up regulations acceptable to all participants.
