The English-language journal Izvestiya, Atmospheric and Oceanic Physics has published an article titled “Climate Risks in Russia: Ranking of Regions by Adaptation Needs” by Igor Makarov, Head of the Laboratory for Climate Change Economics, and Alexander Chernokulsky, Associate Professor at the Joint Department with the RAS Institute of Geography.
The article presents a ranking of Russian regions based on their need for climate change adaptation. The authors also provide updated maps highlighting the regions most at risk from four major climate-related hazards: heatwaves, wildfires, increasing water stress, and permafrost thaw.
