The School of International Regional Studies of the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs, HSE University, as part of series of online seminars "Contemporary Area Studies" together with the Russian Middle East Association hold a discussion with a Director of Projects at the Qatar University Dr. Ibrahim Fakhroo.

The topic of the discussion is "The Journey with Arabic Calligraphy".

Dr. Ibrahim Fakhroo's speech will be dedicated to the formation of Arabic calligraphy.  Simultaneously with development of Islam, Arabic calligraphy was becoming a true art:  calligrapher artists were considered faithful members of society, new styles appeared, the canvas was enriched with geometric and plant patterns - that was the way Islamic craftsmanship has gone over 14 centuries.  Through a global analysis of the history of Islam, it is possible to study the reasons for evolution of Arabic calligraphy.
