Andrey Maslov met with the Executive Director of the African Energy Commission (AFREC)

On April 24, 2025, Andrey Maslov, Director of the Center for African Studies, met with Mr. Rashid Ali Abdallah, Executive Director of the African Energy Commission, in Algiers, Algeria.

During the meeting, the parties discussed promising areas of cooperation between the Commission and the Center for African Studies, as well as key challenges in the energy sector facing African countries.

The Russian delegation also solemnly presented to Mr. Abdallah Africa 2025: Prospects and Challenges expert and analytical handbook. One of its chapters, African resources to the African market: making mining and energy work for Africa, is devoted to analyzing the key challenges and prospects of the African energy sector.
