Registration for the lecture by the Head of the Innovation and Technology Sector at the UNECA is open

Registration is now open for the lecture “States, the Private Sector, and International Organizations: The Distribution of Roles in Africa’s Digital Transformation” by Mactar Seck, Head of the Innovation and Technology Sector at the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA).

The lecture is organized by the Center for African Studies within its educational "Africa" track at the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs of the HSE University. The event will take place on October 9, 2025, at 14:30 at 17 Malaya Ordynka St., Room 106.

The lecture will explore:

 • The role of state institutions in building digital governance frameworks and public service innovation;

 • Partnerships between governments and the private sector in expanding access to digital infrastructure and e-services;

 • The contribution of international organizations, including insights from specific UN-led projects that support digital governance and capacity development in African countries;

 • Case studies illustrating successful cooperation between national governments and global partners in areas such as e-governance, data management, and public sector reform;

 • The role of young professionals in driving innovation and inclusive digital policy design.

By combining practical examples and institutional perspectives, the lecture will offer a comprehensive view of how digital transformation can become a lever for sustainable development and how emerging professionals can actively contribute to this process.
