International Affairs in the XXI Russian-Spanish Symposium "Models of Political and Socio-Economic Development: Experiences of Spain and Russia"

On July 2–3, 2026, the Center for Iberian Studies of the Institute of Latin American Studies (Russian Academy of Sciences) and the University of Valencia hosted the XXI Russian-Spanish Symposium "Models of Political and Socio-Economic Development: Experiences of Spain and Russia."

Faculty members and students from the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs presented their research at the symposium. Victor Arbaizar (Department of World Economy) delivered a presentation titled “New Economic and Business Models in an Unpredictable World: The INDITEX Case”. Olga Volosyuk (Department of Regional Studies) and Maria Levina (student of the "International Relations" program) co-presented a paper on “The Crisis of Interstate Dialogue Between Spain and Argentina During the Presidency of J. Milei: A Reconstruction Through the Prism of National Discourses”.

The conference also gathered scholars from the Institute of Latin American Studies (ILAS RAS), the Primakov Institute of World Economy and International Relations (IMEMO RAS), Kuban State University, the University of Valencia, the Gustavo Bueno Foundation (Oviedo), the Complutense University of Madrid, and the University of La Laguna (Tenerife). The presentations addressed the most pressing issues of the current economic and political situation in Spain and Russia, as well as Spain's relations with Latin American countries, the EU, the USA, and other nations.
