Dear Colleagues, the International Laboratory of World Order Studies and New Regionalism invites you on October 25 at 4 pm to visit an open lecture by Dr Pierre-Emmanuel Thomann “Prospects for a new European security architecture”.

There are missing links in the security architecture of the European, Eurasian and Central Asian spaces that need to be fixed in order to avoid a further fragmentation of the European continent between Euro-Atlantic and Euro-Asian alliances.

This reality seems to be taken more and more into account from French and German governments French. The necessity stressed by the French President Emmanuel Macron of a New European Security Architecture with Russia, was again mentioned in August 2019. A similar proposal was previously proposed by Russian President Dimitri Medvedev in the aftermath of the Russia-Georgia war in 2008. The German government's coalition treaty, for its part, mentioned a “Lisbon Europe in Vladivostok” as an economic objective.

The long term purposes of the European project cannot be imagined without Russia, but serious obstacles remains.

What are the Prospects for a new European security architecture ?

A diagnosis with geopolitical maps has to be made first on the international situation configuration, before to construct different scenarios.

Dr Pierre-Emmanuel Thomann is PhD in Geopolitics: geopolitical analysis of Franco-German relations in the European project French Institute of Geopolitics - University Paris 8, France. He’s also a President/Founder of EUROCONTINENT (AISBL) International organization created to promote geopolitical analysis and foster common interests identification between Nations and States at EU, pan-European (including EU-Russia), Eurasian (EU-Central Asia) and Euro-Mediterranean scale, with a more wider context and systemic approach.
