Visit of students enrolled in the joint double-degree program of HSE University and Southern Federal University, “The Caucasus and the Middle East in the System of Regional and International Relations,” to the April Conference.
On the first day, students participated in the round table "Rethinking Finance: Paths to sustainable and inclusive systems" in a hybrid format. The moderator of the round table was Elmira Elmanovna Imamkuliyeva, one of the academic supervisors of the program. During and after the event, Elmira Elmanovna talked to the students in an informal conversation and answered all their questions. Afterwards, they were given a guided tour of Tatarskaya Sloboda by the Moscow Muslim Spiritual Board. The students learned about the history and contribution of the Tatars to the cultural landscape of the capital. The delegation also visited the Tatar Cultural Center and the historical mosque, the oldest in Moscow.
The next day, on April 15, our students attended an honorary lecture by Georgy Davidovich Tolorai, "Through the Great Wall of Misunderstanding: The Challenges of Oriental Studies in an era of Great Change." Professor, scientific director of the School of Oriental Studies at the Faculty of World Economics and World Politics, discussed the significant challenges facing specialists in the East today. The students managed to participate in the round table and ask questions to George Davidovich. Also, after the presentation, the participants were able to talk with the head of the School of Oriental Studies, Alexei Yuryevich Efimov, who was also present at the event.
After the report, a meeting was held with the dean of the faculty, Anastasia Borisovna Likhacheva. Anastasia Borisovna noted the importance of improving in scientific activity and outlined the prospects and opportunities that allow students to develop their skills and publish articles. Anastasia Borisovna also invited students to participate in scientific events of the World Faculty. On the same day, the delegation managed to visit the HSE libraries on Pokrovsky Boulevard and in the building on Malaya Ordynka 29, where the students got acquainted with their unique atmosphere.
The next day, the intensive program for students continued and they met with Dmitry Valeryevich Efremenko, Head of the Department of Foreign Regional Studies, at the World Faculty. During the conversation, Dmitry Valerievich told the students about the politics of memory as a field of scientific research and answered the students' questions.
Afterwards, the delegation members, together with other students of the faculty, took part in a round table on the topic "Iran, Turkey, the Caucasus: challenges, strategies, prospects." The moderator of the round table was Anri Robertovich Chedia, a lecturer at the National Research University of Higher School of Economics, a researcher at the Faculty and the Scientific and educational Laboratory of Modern Iran Studies. At the round table, the students were able to present their reports on the most important issues of regional development, be it the water crisis in Iran or Turkey's current policy. During the event, students were able to answer questions from the audience and receive detailed comments.
On April 17, the last day of the Yasinsky Conference, the delegation attended the Round Table "Formation of a common model of Eurasian security: synthesis of concepts of a regional (continental) system and a global multipolar system," where honorary scientists invited to the conference made presentations. After that, the delegation went to the Mosart Cultural Center to see an exhibition by artist Alina Khatko called "There is a City beyond the Seas" dedicated to Iran.
Every day was full of new events for our students. They were able to come across a lot of fresh ideas and be inspired by the special academic environment that prevails at the Higher School of Economics.
