FWEIA Representatives Participate in the 5th BRICS Postgraduate Forum in Brazil

#МАСотрудничествоFrom June 9 to 11, 2026, the University of Campinas (Brazil) hosted the 5th BRICS Postgraduate Forum, dedicated to the sustainable development of BRICS countries. The 2026 Forum theme was "BRICS and Sustainable Development in a Multipolar World: Governance, Innovation, and Market Transformation". The event brought together over 100 students, postgraduate researchers, early-career scholars, and experts from BRICS nations to discuss pressing issues of sustainable development, global economic transformation, and international cooperation.

First-year postgraduate student Violetta Romanova presented the findings of her research conducted as part of the project "Approaches to an Alternative International Monetary System," implemented under the "International Academic Cooperation" project. Her work focused on developing an index of institutional development for BRICS national currencies. The index assesses countries' readiness to strengthen the role of their national currencies across four dimensions: international settlements, central bank currency swaps, payment infrastructure, and financial market development in BRICS, ASEAN, and Latin American countries. The analysis revealed that the effectiveness of national currency development policies varies significantly across countries and depends on the comprehensive development of the entire financial ecosystem rather than on individual elements. Following the forum, Violetta Romanova's paper was awarded the "Best Postgraduate Student Paper" prize among all presented research.

Anastasia Podrugina, Head of the Section for Structural Problems of the World Economy at the Centre for Comprehensive European and International Studies (CCEIS) of the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs, HSE University, participated in the forum as chair of two thematic sessions. Additionally, she presented the results of the project "Approaches to an Alternative International Monetary System," implemented under the "International Academic Cooperation" initiative, during a panel discussion on the prospects for the development of the international financial architecture in the context of an emerging multipolar world.
The participation of HSE University representatives in the forum contributed to the development of academic cooperation with BRICS countries, the expansion of international research networks, and the promotion of the university's research outcomes on an international platform.
