Information for authors
Guidelines for full papers
- A written paper, in English, no more than 25 pages (~10.000 words), single-spaced on A4 paper.
- Authors are free to choose the citation style of their paper.
- Papers submitted in PDF or MS Word format only.
Ideally, your full paper should:
- Address a significant problem or puzzle
- State a clear research question
- Review the relevant literature and debates
- Explain your methodology and research design
- Organize your evidence and findings logically
- Provide clear and convincing analysis
- Summarize your conclusions succinctly
Full papers will be available only for the Conference Organizing Committee and discussants/ chairs of panels.
Selected papers will be considered for publication in a special issue or an edited volume. Please indicate whether you want your paper to be considered for publication.
Timing of presentations
Each panel session slot will be 105 minutes long, accommodating a maximum of 5 presenters. Each presenter will be allotted a maximum of 15+5 mins for panels of 5 papers but 20+5 mins for panels of 4 papers.
Guidelines for online presentations:
If you are presenting your paper online, please make sure that the following equipment is available for you:
- Computer/Laptop
- Microphone*
- Loud speaker(s)*
- Headset*
- Camera*
*or all-in-one device
Although we don’t recommend it, you can use a smartphone.

All presentations will be recorded and posted on the HSE University website. If you do not want your presentation to be recorded, please notify us in advance.
Make sure that you have a stable internet connection. If your internet connection is unstable, we strongly advise not to rely on only on Zoom but to have a plan B in place. Consider making a video recording of your presentation and send it to the organizers before the conference starts, so that it can be played it in the session if the connection fails.
