The Project «Youth Aspirations in regional studies: Economics and law of the European Union and its Member States»

About the project

The project is focused on research in the field of economics and law of the European Union and its member states, which is being implemented for the first time in 2020/2021 academic year by the School of International Regional Studies of the Faculty of World Economy and International AffairsNational Research University Higher School of Economics (Russian Federation) in cooperation with the Lithuanian Business University of applied Sciences (Lithuania).

This format allows students not only to develop multilaterally, gain experience in writing scientific texts, but also helps to establish contacts with external colleagues.

Interest in the study of the EU and European integration is constantly growing. As for the process of formation and development of a united Europe and the legal system functioning within it, it can be noted that this process is caused on the one hand largely by the system-forming factor of law, legal institutions and ideas, and on the other hand by politics, economics, and partly by culture and ideology.  At the same time, the complexity and inconsistency of such an entity as the European Union, given its indisputable importance as a participant in international relations, generates a lot of controversy both in theory and in practice, as well as questions about the future of European integration, which determines the continued relevance and interest in this issue.

This project aims to develop students ' knowledge and research skills in the field of economics and law of the EU and its member states, as well as to develop scientific cooperation between the Russian Federation and Europe.  The implementation of the project will contribute to the strengthening of international scientific relations between Russia and the EU, as well as the acquisition of experience by students in conducting international scientific projects.

In the framework of the project, students get the opportunity to take part in XVIIIth International methodical students conference: “Academic Aspirations Of Youth: Insights In Economy, Management, Law And Technologies” which will be held in Lithuania Business University of applied Sciences on 22 April 2021, and to take part in the "International Social Entrepreneurship Competition'' which will be held on 23 April 2021. During this event, students can take part in seminars and master classes with the best speakers and practitioners of social entrepreneurship from Tallinn (Estonia), Helsinki (Finland), Liepaja (Latvia) and Kaliningrad (Russia).

Considering the global pandemic, both parts of the event will be held completely remotely on “google meet” platform, guaranteeing each participant a remote, online participation in the event.

During the project, there will be work on two research areas:

1. The law of the EU and its member States

2. The economy of the EU and its member States

Within the framework of the project, participants will prepare a review of the literature on the proposed issues; will have the opportunity to listen to lectures by invited European lecturers on economics and EU law; will make a presentation on the selected areas of research and prepare publications.
