Russian trade mission in China

At the end of the last academic year the Center of international activities supported the organization of internship in the Trade mission of Russia in China for Galchenko Evgeni and Larionov Alexandr - students of Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs. They have successfully passed the internship and shared impressions with us.

We have been learning Chinese within the main educational program at faculty of World Economy and International Affairs for 3 years. Every summer we got language internship in summer school of one of the best higher education institutions of China – Fudan University in Shanghai where we increased level of proficiency in Chinese.
On a third year we began to study a professional language, that’s why we have made the decision to have an internship which would provide practice of business Chinese. From this point of view, the Trade mission of Russia in the People's Republic of China gave an excellent opportunity for improvement of language skills.

We lived in the territory of Embassy of the Russian Federation in Beijing where were a football field, a tennis court, volleyball and basketball courts, a gym, a sauna and a pool.
On weekdays we worked from 9:00 till 18:00 o'clock, after work we went sightseeing, before going to bed actively did sports. Unfortunately, we didn't have enough time for everything.
At weekends we visited palace complexes, parks and reserves, remote from the downtown (we especially liked Fragrant hills where it was very difficult to climb up and down), we have visited the Great Wall and gone to the resort of Beidaihe where we swam in the Yellow Sea.

During our stay in Beijing there often were long tropical heavy rains because of which we didn't leave our home. However we had an opportunity to practice Chinese and also test the culinary skills.
We had an internship curator – the leading specialist expert of economic department of the Trade mission Surikov A.S. During our stay we made translations of documents and articles on economical and financial, trade and technical subject from Chinese and English, a summary of contents of documents of accounting reports. We also participated in preparation of information and analytical documents and survey statistical materials about the development of China economy for the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation. We participated as observers in business conversations and negotiations with representatives of the Chinese business community, helped with the organization of a meeting of SCO. During the internship we also visited other Russian foreign institutions and firms for the purpose of acquaintance with specifics and the main directions of their work in China.
Moreover, we managed to automate the process of statistical information analysis of the trade between Russia and China for monthly and quarterly reports of the Trade mission which has allowed to reduce data processing time significantly.

During the internship we have studied various aspects of modern development of the Russian-Chinese relations in trade, scientific, technical and financial spheres and also published an article named "Crisis in Celestial Empire: myth or reality?", where our skills which we have gained during the internship in the Trade mission were realized.
We are sure that this trip is a turning point in our life and the basis for further professional activity in the sphere of trade and economic cooperation of Russia and China.
We are very grateful to the staff of the Trade mission, especially Sizov S.Yu., Surikov A.S. and to Zaytsev A.N. for all those skills and abilities which we have gained during this practice. Also we would like to thank employees of  the Center of scholarship and charitable programs and personally Golubinskaya E.V. for assistance in the organization of internship.
Certainly, the knowledge of Chinese is a huge merit of our teachers Grigoriev V. V. and Serov A.I., to which we are sincerely grateful too.
