A journey to Tokyo via the Japan-Russia Youth Exchange Center program
I have dreamt of visiting Japan for quite a long time, and this year my dream came true thanks to the Japan-Russia Youth Exchange Center.
I have learned about this program in the NRU HSE. Having all the documents issued, I flew to Tokyo on the 2nd of November 2012. Our group consisted of 30 students from different Russian cities. Together with the Russian-speaking guides, we got familiar with Tokyo and Akita prefecture, where we visited the Akita International University and the upper secondary school Kakunodate. Thanks to this trip I had a chance to have a conversation with the Japanese pupils, students and aspirants, visit a tea ceremony, see the numerous Japanese sights – long story short, I have plunged into the unique culture of the Land of the Rising Sun.
This journey gave me an opportunity to practice my speaking skills and, moreover, gave me a stimulus to learn the Japanese language even harder.
