About the Centre for African Studies

The HSE Center for African Studies was established  in 2020 in response to the growing importance of Africa as an area of ​​foreign policy and economic interaction for Russia.

The Center's primary objective is to provide expert and analytical support to Russian companies and state agencies in their work in Africa, analyze risks, and identify opportunities.

By 2025, the HSE Centre for African Studies is Russia's leading center of expertise on the risks and opportunities for doing business in Africa.

Directions of work:

Study of energy, food and IT markets in African countries
Assessment of financial, legal and political risks
Expertise of projects implemented and proposed for implementation in Africa by Russian companies
Management staff training for partner countries in Africa
Training personnel for Russia
Working with African officials
Study of transport, logistics and financial infrastructure
Study of decision-making systems and business environment
Academic and student exchange
Implementation of the e-Governance Knowledge Sharing Program for African officials
Organization and implementation of the additional vocational training programmes
