Delegation of the Center visited Uganda
On 18 July 2024, Andrey Maslov, Director of the Center, and Deputy Director, Vsevolod Sviridov, met with Chris Baryomunsi, Minister of Information and Communications Technology and National Guidance of Uganda. Evgeny Kalashnikov, Charge d’affaires of Russia in Uganda, and Michael Ocero, Acting Commissioner for e-Services at the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance, also took part in the meeting.
Mr. Maslov and Mr. Sviridov elaborated on the e-Governance Knowledge Sharing Program and also told the Minister about the contribution made by top and middle-level civil servants from Uganda. They discussed projects in the field of e-Governance and partial localization of production of electronic devices and gadgets.
The meeting was organized with the support of Collin Mugasha Babirukamu and Michael Ocero representatives of the National Information Technology Authority of Uganda (NITA-U) and participants in the Winter E-Governance Knowledge Sharing Week in December 2023.

The Center for African Studies and NITA-U continue to share knowledge with the Ugandan side. Together they discuss opportunities for the use of AI in the fields of food sovereignty and cybersecurity. Thus, on 19 July, the Center’s delegation met with Arnold Mangeni, Director of Information Security at NITA-U, to discuss possible joint research projects in the field of cybersecurity.
