HSE University signed an agreement with the African Energy Chamber at SPIEF-2025

On June 19, 2025, on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), the HSE Univeristy and the African Energy Chamber (AEC), a leading organization in the field of African energy, signed a cooperation agreement. The AEC serves as an expert and communication platform for interaction between state agencies, companies and international organizations in order to strengthen the energy security of African countries.

The five-year agreement provides for joint scientific research in the field of energy, academic and educational exchanges between HSE students and AEC's staff, cooperation in organizing specialized events such as forums, round tables and conferences to discuss topical issues on energy, as well as assistance to the development of Russian-African cooperation in the field of extraction, transportation and efficient use of energy resources in African markets.

For the Russian side, the HSE Center for African Studies will be responsible for the coordination of the Agreement.

The agreement came as a result of a long-term collaboration between the HSE Center for African Studies and the AEC. In particular, on March 31, 2025, NJ Ayuk, Chairman of the AEC, delivered a lecture for HSE students "African Energy Agenda: Prospects and Challenges" within the educational "Africa" track.
