The 27th Session of Eurasian Online Seminar with Vladimir Lukin

The Department of International Relations and International Laboratory on World Order Studies and the New Regionalism of the National Research University Higher School of Economics is holding the twenty-seventh session of Eurasian Online Seminar.

Our speaker on Wednesday, 20 October 2021 at 17:00 Moscow time will be the of the leading Russian experts on International Relations Ambassador Vladimir Petrovich Lukin. The topic of his talk is " A Multilevel World and a Flat Worldview”. Ambassador Lukin will discuss various ideological approaches to the processes of globalization and deglobalization in contemporary world.His talk will be based on an article written for an upcoming special issue of Russian Politics journal which was prepared in our laboratory.

Vladimir Lukin was born in 1937 in Omsk, he worked as a research fellow in the Institute of US studies of the Soviet Academy of Sciences and deputy department head in the Soviet Foreign Ministry. In 1990 he was elected to the Supreme Soviet of the Russian Federation. In 1992-1994 he served as the Russian Ambassador to the US.  From 1993 to 2004 he was a deputy of the State Duma serving as Chairman of its International Relations Committee and the Deputy Speaker. From 2004 to 2014 he worked as the Russian Federation Human Rights Commissioner. From 2014 until 2021 he was a member of the Federation Council and Deputy Chairman of its International Relations Committee. Ambassador Lukin is currently a research professor at the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs of the Higher School of Economics. He has authored several books and numerous articles on International Politics, Russian Foreign Policy and Human Rights issues. The last volume of the four-volume collection of his works was published in Russian this year.
