Seminar 37. Askar Akayev: “Energy Transition and Climate Change: Challenges and Prospects”

On 27 February 2023 (Monday) 17:00 Moscow time, the Department of International Relations of the National Research University Higher School of Economics and International Laboratory on World Order Studies and the New Regionalism held a lecture by Askar Akayev, Foreign Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Professor at Moscow State University, Academic Director of the Center for Stability and Risk Studies (CSR) at the HSE Department of Social Sciences, and former President of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan. The topic of his talk was "Energy Transition and Climate Change: Challenges and Prospects”. The lecture was the first event of the Eurasian Online Seminar series to be held in hybrid format.

Askar Akayev is a Soviet and Kyrgyz political and academic figure, President of the Kyrgyz SSR and the first President of the Kyrgyz Republic. He won presidential elections four times after extending his term via national referendums in 1994 and 2003.
