Meeting with the national coordinator for the SCO of Iran

On October 3, 2023, the head of the department of international relations, head of the International Laboratory for Research on World Order and New Regionalism, Professor Alexander Lukin, met with the national coordinator for SCO affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mehrdad Kiaei. 

The work of the SCO and prospects for enhancing Iranian participation in it, as well as the role of the SCO Expert Forum in developing the agenda for the future development of the Organization were discussed at the meeting. The meeting was attended by Minister Counselor of the Iranian Embassy in Russia Hossein Maleki and Political Counselor of the Embassy Hassan Karrabi. At a meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the SCO in July 2023, the Islamic Republic officially became the ninth member of the Organization.
