Article by Ekaterina Kosevich and Georgy Kutyrev about security in Latin America and the EU

The magazine “Iberoamerica” published a joint article by Ekaterina Kosevich and Georgy Kutyrev, researchers at the International Laboratory for Research on World Order Studies and the New Regionalism, entitled “Cooperation between the European Union and Latin America in the field of security.”

The European Union (EU) and Latin America and the Caribbean have a long history of cooperation in various fields, including security, where the prospects for cooperation between the two regions are very encouraging. There are several areas in which the EU and Latin America can work together to improve their collective regional security: counter-terrorism, cybersecurity, drug trafficking and organized crime. In addition, the EU provides technical assistance, expertise and funding to support peacebuilding initiatives, which can be a successful endeavor if there is political will, mutual trust and close cooperation between both regions. The article provides a general overview of the development of relations between the EU and LAC countries in the field of security based on the Copenhagen School approach.

The study was supported by the Russian Science Foundation grant No. 22-78-10014.
