Lecture of Professor Manfred Hafner on the topic “Global Energy Challenges and Opportunities in a changing World”

The Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs invites you on December 5 at 18:10 to participate in the lecture with Professor Manfred Hafner. Manfred Hafner is a Professor in International Energy Studies and lectures at the Johns Hopkins University (School of Advanced International Studies – SAIS Europe Bologna Center) and at the Paris School of International Affairs at Sciences Po Paris.

Manfred Hafner is a recognized expert on energy scenario building, supply and demand analysis, and market and strategy studies with a special focus on gas and power markets. He has an almost 30 years of working experience in energy mainly in Europe, Middle East, North Africa, Russia and CIS countries, and he has consulted extensively for energy companies, governments and international organizations. He is also Professor of international energy teaching at Johns Hopkins University and Sciences Po Paris.

The guest will make a report on topic “Global Energy Challenges and Opportunities in a changing World”. He also will cover the following issues:

  • global energy drivers (geographical, sectoral, sources): which energy sources and where in the future ?
  • energy and climate debate and energy-climate scenarios: why, how, by whom, impacts ?
  • global conventional and unconventional oil and gas developments
  • sustainable development outlook: role of energy efficiency, renewables, digitalization
  • energy outlook and energy trade
  • geoeconomics and geopolitics of energy (in particular gas and oil)
  • challenges and opportunities of the energy transition globally, and also for Russia

The working language is English.

The event will be held on 17 Malaya Ordinka St. (Moscow), 1st floor, room 106 (conference room).
