Students and faculty members took part in the Winter School of the BRICS Network University in Brazil
From August 5 to 9, University of Campinas, Brazil, hosted the first School in Economics of the BRICS Network University, which was attended by more than 70 people from 20 universities around the world.
Students Nikita Ganzha (Asian Studies), Diana Badrieva (International Relations) and Marina Starodubtseva (World Economy) qualified a strict competitive selection at the Faculty and became students of the School. Faculty members Alina Shcherbakova, Denis Shcherbakov and Maria Budrevich, as well as the Head of the HSE Department of International Cooperation Marina Batalina participated in the event as lecturers, debaters and experts.
The main theme of the School was various aspects of economic development of BRICS countries. During the week, participants listened and gave lectures and participated in research seminars. Prof. Robert Guttmann, University of Paris 13 (France) and Hofstra University (USA), and Prof. Paulo Nogueira Batista Jr., former Vice-President of the New Development Bank (NDB) gave honorable lectures to a wide audience.
The first BRICS Network University Winter School in Brazil was excellent, and I’m extremely grateful to the professors of the Faculty for such a great opportunity. During the School, we not only attended lectures and seminars, but also were able to get on an excursion to the office of the power generation company in Campinas, as well as walk around Sao Paulo. The next School of the BRICS Network University will be held in Russia in 2020.
