Igor Makarov participated in BRICS Academic Forum
Igor Makarov, Head of Laboratory on Climate Change Economics, participated in the session “The Price Is Transition: Who Gets it All?” of BRICS Academic Forum.
Igor Makarov had a presentation with proposals for BRICS cooperation in combating climate change. The Head of Laboratory underlined the importance of establishment BRICS Climate Research Agency that will allow to collect information on emissions, energy markets, and low-carbon technologies of member-states.
Moreover, the scholar explained the importance of production-based accounting along with consumption-based accounting. Igor Makarov noted that to implement that approach some steps must be taken by BRICS countries. The development of BRICS climate cooperation requires the enhancement of carbon market infrastructure and signing of BRICS leaders' declaration on climate.
