International Round Table “The Current Situation in the World and the Middle East: Key Trends and Pressing Issues”

On February 6, the School of Regional Studies at the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs of the HSE University in collaboration with the Council on Foreign and Defense Policy and with the support of the Center for Middle Eastern Studies, held an international round table titled“The Current Situation in the World and the Middle East: Key Trends and Pressing Issues.”

The round table was chaired by Sergey Karaganov, Honorary Chairman of the CFDP Presidium and Academic Supervisor of the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs at HSE University. The keynote speaker was Alastair Crooke, Founder and Director of the public organization Conflicts Forum.

The round table focused on the transformation of the global order and the role of countries from the so-called “World Majority.” Keynote speaker Alastair Crooke also devoted special attention to developments in the Middle East, analyzing possible scenarios for the coming year.

The discussion featured the participation of prominent experts, including:

  • Anastasia Likhacheva, Dean of the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs at HSE University;
  • Fyodor Lukyanov, Chairman of the CFDP Presidium, Editor-in-Chief of Russia in Global Affairs journal;

The round table brought together leading experts in international affairs, fostering discussions on the ongoing shifts in the global landscape and the future of the Middle East.
