The seminar was moderated by Sadygzade Murad, President of the Russian Middle East Association, and Assistant Head of the School of International Regional Studies at the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs, HSE University.
At the beginning of the meeting, all the participants and the speaker of the event were greeted by Dr. Vera Vishnyakova, Head of the School of International Regional Studies of the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs, HSE University.
The speaker of the seminar put the accent on the foreign policy of Turkey caused by the «Arab Spring». In particular, Yashar Niyazbayev indicated the problems on the borders of Turkey and the Arab world. Moreover, the speaker stressed that because of the tension between the Arab world and Turkey, the last had problems with the West.
In economic sphere Turkey also suffered significant losses due to the events of the "Arab Spring". As Yashar Niyazbayev pointed out, the "Arab Spring" in Turkey led to the loss approximately of a trillion dollars.
The speaker also mentioned Erdogan’s tour in the Middle East. During this trip, Erdogan met with the opposition forces, pointing out that the secular system does not interfere with Islam. Thus, the Turkish leadership has outlined a vision of its own role in the Middle East.
Yashar Niyazbayev answered all the participant’s questions.
