Kuterev Georgy has presented a collective monograph on a research seminar of the laboratory
On February 21, a collective monograph “The European Union: Risks and Challenges of the Current Stage of Political Evolution” was presented, one of whose authors was Candidate of Political Sciences, Research Fellow at the International Laboratory for World Order and New Regionalism at HSE, Kutyrev Georgy.
In the scientific seminar framework devoted to the criticism of the existing European security system, Georgy Kutyrev emphasized the special need to review key European institutions, as well as Russia's role in restructuring the Euro-Atlantic order. In his study, the author refers to the bipolar and post-bipolar world transformation processes on the continent with Path Dependence theory. This theory utilizes the analysis of events or past decisions to determine modern policy aims. According to the researcher, this approach can help to better understand the weaknesses of the European security concept. Kutyrev paid special attention to the modern international context, in particular the Crimean events, the UK´s withdrawal from the European Union, etc.
During the discussion, British political scientist, well-known specialist in the study of Russian political processes, the leading foreign scientist and research director of the Laboratory, Richard Sakwa, noted the particular importance of conducting similar research by Russian specialists and sharing experience with European colleagues.
