On December 6 th at Higher School of Economics, with the participation of the International Laboratory for Study of World Order and New Regionalism, an open lecture was held by the director of the educational program “Smart Contracts and Blockchain Programming” of Plekhanov Russian University of Economics Alexander Stepanov on the topic of blockchain using and the prospects for the development of technology in the realities of the world and Russian economy. Blockchain today is one of 9 cross-cutting technologies specified in the national program “Digital Economy”, approved by the President of the Russian Federation as a priority task of developing the competitiveness of the Russian economy and the need for Russia to enter the top 5 economies of the world. Plekhanov Russian University of Economics is at the origins of creating a training system for creating a new digital economy in Russia.

Research conducted by the University has created a number of advanced educational programs aimed at the development and implementation of the national program “Digital Economy”:

  1. Smart contracts and blockchain - programming
  2. VR / AR developer
  3. Cryptoeconomics and blockchain technology
  4. Robotics and sensorics
  5. Digital economy and digital technologies “Smart contracts and blockchain programming” is the latest and most extensive program of the Institute of Management and Social and Economic Design for blockchain technology in Russia, the program is interesting primarily because it is implemented and implemented in the educational system IT specialists will greatly contribute to the penetration of blockchain technology into key areas of society and, by accelerating the country's digitalization process, will improve the quality of life of citizens of the Russian Federation.

The seminar “On the role of blockchain technology in the development of the digital economy of Russia” received many positive reviews from researchers of the institute and representatives of the teaching staff of the Higher School of Economics. To enable specialists to make a more meaningful understanding of the technology itself and the role of blockchain in the digital economy is one of the tasks that Alexander Stepanov sets for himself, speaking at seminars and various conferences.

“Unfortunately, now around the blockchain there are a lot of myths and confusions that greatly impede the development of technology in Russia. Potential developers either do not understand the technology, or they understand it wrong. As a result, we are faced with a huge shortage of specialists who are now in demand both in state and private commercial structures of Russia. Projects are created, but there is no one to implement them. And the few who really understand the prospects of blockchain technology in Russia are now creating a highly paid and promising career in IT,” Alexander Stepanov emphasized at the end of the lecture.
