Faculty Ambassador Amrieva Leyla performed at school-gymnasium №6 named after Abai Kunanbaev (Kazakhstan, Stepnogorsk)

Our student of the bachelor’s programme “Asian and African Studies” within the framework of the project “Ambassadors of the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs 2021-2022” met with high school students from her school to tell them about the choice of university, the peculiarities of studying at our faculty, as well as give advice on choosing a specialty and support them before the final exams.

Leyla graduated from school-gymnasium №6 named after Abai Kunanbaev in 2021. She was led to the “Ambassadors of the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs 2021-2022” project by the desire to share with future applicants her experience of entering as a foreign student, to talk about the stages of passing the entrance exams, and also to share some of the difficulties and ways to overcome them. Our student really wanted to provide moral support to graduates, help them choose the right major for themselves and give them confidence in going through this difficult path.

The student performed at school on March 25, 2022 in an online format, and the guys received handouts in advance. A lot of students from all graduating classes, who were interested in hearing relevant information for them, joined the presentation.

The high school students asked a lot of questions, the most popular of them:

  1. How does the system of discounts work at the university?
  2. When do entrance exams start?
  3. What is the difference between the rating system for citizens of the Russian Federation and foreigners?
  4. How does the mobility system work?

Also, general questions were asked about how to decide on a future specialty and understand that this is exactly what you want in the future.

Leyla spoke about her impressions of the meeting: “I was very pleased to meet the guys from my school, even online, since I know all these guys and I really wanted to see them and find out how they are doing with choosing a university and entering. I know from my own experience how difficult it is, especially when you choose a university abroad, so I wanted to support the guys, tell them about my experience of entering, choosing a university and passing online entrance exams. And of course, I wanted to tell them about my faculty and why my choice fell on it. I really hope that I was able to inspire them and that they enjoyed my story about HSE and that some of them took a closer look at our university.”

The project “Ambassadors of the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs 2021-2022” is being implemented by the HSE Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs under the guidance of Deputy Dean for Admissions and Alumni Relations Anna V. Zhikhareva.
