Faculty Ambassador Orlova Daria performed at School №1786 (Moscow)

Our student of the bachelor’s programme “Asian and African Studies” within the framework of the project “Ambassadors of the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs 2021-2022” returned to her school to tell high school students about the choice of university and the peculiarities of studying at the Faculty of World Economy and International Affair.

Daria studied at school № 1786 until the 9th grade, before changing school to the HSE Lyceum. She did it because of the widespread doubt among her classmates that none of them could get into a top university. They did not believe, perhaps because they did not know the specific algorithms for admission, and without clear steps it is impossible to achieve the goal. It was the desire to show students how achievable it is to enter the best university in the country that led Daria to the project “Ambassadors of the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs 2021-2022”.

The student performed at school on March 24, 2022. Students of 10-11 grades and even the director gathered to listen to the presentation in the assembly hall.

The high school students really liked the performance, they asked a lot of questions, the most popular of them are:

  • How hard is it to study at the Higher School of Economics?
  • How to get an internship?
  • What are the disadvantages of learning?

Daria spoke about her impressions of the meeting: “I am grateful to the faculty for organizing the project and the opportunity to return to my native school, not just as a former student, but as an ambassador (with a serious presentation and leaflets). Of course, it’s great to see how even a small light begins to flare up in the eyes of students who have been told for many years that “HSE is above their heads” ... I hope to keep contact with the guys and eventually lead them to enroll, because the school is on the outskirts not an obstacle, and only in our hands is the opportunity to succeed. It was a special pleasure to meet my favorite teachers. I believe that my presentation also gave them hope and they will pass on inspiration to their students.”

The project “Ambassadors of the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs 2021-2022” is being implemented by the HSE Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs under the guidance of Deputy Dean for Admissions and Alumni Relations Anna V. Zhikhareva.
