Faculty Ambassador Lebedeva Anna performed at “Moscow School in the South-West №1543”

Our student of the bachelor’s programme “Asian and African Studies” within the framework of the project “Ambassadors of the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs 2021-2022” returned to her school returned to school to tell future applicants about choosing a university, the peculiarities of studying at our faculty, as well as give advice on choosing a specialty and support them before final exams.

Anna graduated from school №1543 in 2020. She was led to the “Ambassadors of the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs 2021-2022” project by the desire to share her experience with the students, to protect them from worries about admission, and to tell them how interesting it is to study at the HSE University.

The speech to future applicants took place on April 7, 2022. Grade 10 students stayed after class to listen to Anya's presentation and ask her questions about admission and the benefits of studying. Students showed sincere interest in the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs, namely in the “Asian and African Studies” programme.

The high school students asked a lot of questions, the most popular of them:

  • Is it possible to go on an exchange to a foreign university?
  • Is it possible to do an internship in a large company while studying? Does the university support such initiatives?
  • Are Oriental languages difficult to learn?

Anna spoke about her impressions of the meeting: “I remember many of the guys who came to listen to me from my school days. Now they have become high school students, ready to take the exam, go to university and make adult decisions. I admire them! They are very cheerful, optimistic about the future and want to learn as much as possible. Their curiosity and fun touched me very much. Of course, it was very pleasant to return to my school. It's like coming home after a long absence. You walk through your corridors and classrooms, you see the familiar faces of teachers and students. It is a little sad that this is a thing of the past, but at the same time it is unusually warm and cozy. And I am happy that thanks to our project, I had the opportunity not only to come to my school, but also to communicate with the guys, find out what worries them and what is important to them. I hope I helped them sort out some issues, got them interested in applying to the Higher School of Economics at the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs, and inspired them with my own example.”

The project “Ambassadors of the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs 2021-2022” is being implemented by the HSE Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs under the guidance of Deputy Dean for Admissions and Alumni Relations Anna V. Zhikhareva.
