Vietnam and COVID-19

On May 15, as part of the on-line seminars “Contemporary Area Studies” organized by School of International Regional Studies, Dr. Trung Xuan Hoang, a research fellow of Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences, made a presentation entitled “Vietnam’s Response to the COVID-19 Pandemic”.

In responding to the COVID-19, the authorities of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam have achieved astonishing results as the mortality rate is zero. The Vietnamese speaker and the following discussion traced the key directions of these efforts, as well as the most important aftereffects of the COVID-19 for Vietnam and for ASEAN which is currently under the SRV’s chairmanship. Also, new promising directions, measures and mechanisms of Russia-Vietnam cooperation within the framework of Comprehensive Strategic Partnership which can be elaborated on in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic were thoroughly discussed.

The issues raised during the discussion generated strong interests, which reveals readiness of its participants to further develop this practice.
