The School of International Regional Studies is a research and educational centre seeking to revive international regional studies as an academic discipline in Russia. During the lecture and the further discussion, synergized with networking lunch, Professor E.Kanaev presented his views on the priorities, directions and prospects of Russian policy in the Asia-Pacific region in light of the present and the prospective tasks of the Russian Federation and its regional partners. The event resulted in agreements on intensifying contacts between the embassies of the Asia-Pacific states and School of International Regional Studies, FWEIA NRU HSE.
Besides Professor Evgeny Kanaev, the NRU HSE was presented by Pavel Shaternikov, a first-year student of the Master Programme “International Relations: European and Asian Studies”, Cahya Sumaningsih, a first-year student of the Master Programme “Socioeconomic and Political Development of Modern Asia”, and Sofya Paderina, a research assistant of Joint Department with Avtopromimport, a graduate of the Master Programme “International Relations: European and Asian Studies”. The young experts actively participated in the discussion.
Such events do significant part in the comprehensive strategy of training the new generation of Regional Studies specialists, including by means of academic mentoring aimed at developing the leadership and professional potential of the FWEIA students and graduates, implemented by the School of International Regional Studies.
