The seminar was moderated by Dr. Vera Vishnyakova - Head of the School of International Regional Studies of the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs, HSE University.
In the speech, Yevgeny Kremnev raised the problem of the introduction of regionology as a science in the period of transformation of the paradigm of regionological research. According to the expert, the emerging concept of transdisciplinary regionology is the most adequate and modern which corresponds to the socio-culture view of the world.
Noting the importance of this topic, Yevgeny Kremnev pointed out that transdisciplinaronic regionology is understood as an integrative science that studies the economic-geographical, cultural-historical, socio-political, linguistic and other peculiarities of regions, identifying patterns of regional development and interregional interaction and relying on a comprehensive theoretical and methodological framework developed in the regions-objects of research.
Moreover, Evgeny Kremnev analyzed the approaches to regional knowledge in Russian and foreign science. The expert also focused on the formulation of the goals and objectives of transdisciplinary regionology in the XXI century.
In the report was also highlighted that transdisciplinary regionology allows to cancel the discussion about what is an independent science, and what is only part of it. The integrated approach allows us to use the achievements in all spheres and fields of science and to use it in the best possible way.
In the final part, the speaker presented theoretical approaches and research methods, among which were mentioned the definition of the degree of trans-regionality of research, the definition of the degree of transdisciplinarity of research, as well as the choice of a scientific school or direction in which the researcher will be able to draw approaches and methods.
