Representatives of the Chilean Bernardo O'Higgins University took part on the debates, that had students of the Faculty of World Economic and International Affairs and School of Foreign Languages HSE University as attendees.
HSE’s Vice-Rector Dr. Victoria Panova opened the debates noting the important and timely cooperation between the two countries. “HSE University pursues a multi-vector humanitarian policy abroad and is ready to develop academic exchanges, research and expert relations with partners. We hope that the visit of our guests to HSE University will also be an impetus for the development of cooperation with Bernardo O'Higgins University. We look forward to welcoming students from Chile at HSE University, as well as to promoting student research initiatives," - said Dr. Victoria Panova.
Dr. Carlos Alberto Ruff Escobar, Rector of the Bernardo O'Higgins University of Chile presented a report entitled “Chile y factores que trascienden en el crecimiento lento de una América Latina atrapada”.
The Round Table was also attended by Dr. Raul Eduardo Arismendi, vice-rector of the Bernardo O'Higgins University, Dr. Aleksandra Michenkova, professor at the Bernardo O'Higgins University, Dr. Violetta Tayar, vice-director of the Institute of Latin America of the Russian Academy of Science, Dr. Liudmila Dyakova, senior researcher of Latin America of the Russian Academy of Science. Furthermore, Rena Koyusheva and Daria Lapina, lecturers at School of Foreign Languages, reported on the studies of Spanish language at HSE university and presented a video prepared by their colleagues and university students.
The Round Table was organized under the auspices of the project “Quo vadis Iberoamerica: internal transformations and its new role in international affairs”, coordinated by the Dr. Olga Volosyuk, Yulia Belous, Alina Zub, Dr. Galina Nikiporets-Takigawa and Ana Livia Esteves who presented reports and took part on the discussions.
During the Round Table, experts debated issues related to the economic development of Chile and to the relations between Russia and Latin America. The participants discussed the reasons behind the slow economic growth in Latin American countries, the Chilean Constitutional referendum of 2022, as well as political and economic aspects of Russian-Chilean relations.
The parties manifested interest in advancing academic cooperation between HSE University and Latin American universities.
The Chilean delegation presented a video about the Bernardo O'Higgins University. We hope this meeting will represent the beginning of fruitful relations with this new partner of HSE University.
