Socio-economic and Political Factors Shaping the South-South Dialogue

On October 29, 2024, as part of the VI International Conference “The World Majority towards a New International Order”, held in partnership with INION RAS a session titled “Socio-economic and Political Factors Shaping the South-South Dialogue” took place.

The event was moderated by A. Kuznetsov, Director of INION RAS.

The session featured presentations by P. Yakovlev, Chief Research Fellow at the Center for Interdisciplinary Studies, INION RAS, and Chief Research Fellow at the Center for Iberian Studies, ILA RAS (“The BRICS+ Economic Agenda and Development Prospects for the Global South”); A. Borzova, Professor at the Department of Theory and History of International Relations, RUDN University (“The Role of Brazil in Shaping the South-South Dialogue”); A. Volodin, Chief Research Fellow at the Center for Interdisciplinary Studies, INION RAS (“The Self-Destruction of the West and the Expectations of the East”); K. Nivedita, Associate Professor at the School of International Relations, Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs, HSE University (“BRICS in the Global South: Between ‘Contested Multilateralism’ and ‘Multilateralism as a Challenge’”); S. Seyedi, Research Fellow at the School of Regional Studies, Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs, HSE University (“Multipolarity and Potential Turkish Membership in BRICS: Reasons and Prospects”); Y. Belous, Associate Professor at the School of International Relations, Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs, HSE University (“The Features of Turkey’s Humanitarian Policy in Latin America and the Caribbean in the 21st Century”); and L. The session contributed to a comprehensive discussion of the factors influencing the formation and strengthening of the South-South dialogue, as well as the prospects and challenges in a changing geopolitical environment.
