Launch of the E-Governance Knowledge Sharing Week

On December 18, 2023, Moscow hosted the opening ceremony of the E-Governance Knowledge-Sharing Week for African officials, organized by the HSE Center for African Studies with the support of Innopraktika.

During this week, 44 representatives from 23 African countries, international (UN Economic Commission for Africa) and regional (IGAD, ECCAS) organizations - from heads of the departments to ministers - will share experience in digitalization of public administration in their countries, as well as get acquainted with Russian experience and solutions in the field of digital development.

"You are giving us even more than we need. We are expanding our technical knowledge with your support,” said Abiodun Omowunmi Essiet, Senior Special Assistant to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Among the participants were state leaders from Angola, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Comoros, Republic of Congo, DR Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Ethiopia, DR Congo, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, Republic of Congo, Mali, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, Tunisia, Uganda, Zimbabwe. The Minister of Digitalization of Comoros, Chair Country of the African Union for 2023, spoke at the opening ceremony.

The event was opened by Director of the Center and Coordinator of the Program, Andrey Maslov. Welcoming speeches were delivered by Kamalidini Souef, Minister of Posts, Telecommunications and Digital Economy of the Union of Comoros; Mr. Oleg Kachanov, Deputy Minister of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation; Mr. Oleg Ozerov, Ambassador-at-Large and Head of the Secretariat of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum; Mr. Moctar Seck, Head of Innovation and Technology Sector of the UN Economic Commission for Africa; Mr. Tafadzwa Muguti, Permanent Secretary in the Office of the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe. The opening ceremony was moderated by Fyodor Lukyanov, Editor-in-Chief of “Russia in Global Affairs”, Research Professor at the HSE University, Chairman of the Presidium of the Council on Foreign and Defense Policy.
