Director of the Center for African Studies visited Ethiopia as part of the Russian delegation

Andrey Maslov, Director of the Center for African Studies, took part in the discussion of Russian-Ethiopian cooperation during the meeting of the Co-Chairmen of the Intergovernmental Russian-Ethiopian Commission in Addis Ababa

On February 18-20, 2025, during the Russian delegation’s visit to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, the meeting of the Intergovernmental Russian-Ethiopian Commission on Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation and Trade took place. Andrey Maslov, Director of the Center for African Studies, participated in a series of official events. 

The events took place during the three-day official visit of the Russian delegation to Ethiopia headed by the Chairman of the Federation Council, Valentina Matvienko. The delegation consisted of the representatives of 14 Russian ministries and agencies, as well as major companies and scientific organizations.

The Russian-Ethiopian Commission discussed cooperation between two countries in agriculture, trade and tourism, as well as possible joint projects in education, medicine and information and communication technologies. The Russian side was represented by the Minister of Economic Development, Maxim Reshetnikov. On behalf of Ethiopia, the Minister of Innovation and Technology, Dr. Belete Molla, participated in the events. Among the other meetings, there was also the one with Zeleke Temesgen, Head of the Ethiopian Investment Commission.
