Winners of Faculty of Design Competition Announced

The design competition held by HSE’s Faculty of Design has concluded. The competition is a supplementary test necessary for admission into the Faculty’s bachelor’s programme. Applicants’ work was evaluated by a selection committee consisting of well-known designers, including those from the Faculty itself and specialists invited to participate on the committee.

This year’s competition lasted three days and saw the participation of 269 individuals. Participants had to present a project based on a theme of their choice. This project consisted of a series of work centred on a single concept and style. In addition, contenders were asked to design a t-shirt, which allowed the future student to express themselves visually and tell their story.

“There are a lot of interesting ideas and projects. It is clear that they are trying to make original projects, but are simultaneously flexible in absorbing the Faculty of Design’s subculture. The kids are studying the work of our students posted on the site, and they are trying to stay in the given format. In addition, it became clear in the application stage for the Faculty that these are highly prepared kids – the average Unified State Exam score of applicants was substantially higher than a year ago,” Igor Gurovitch, one of the Faculty’s leading instructors and a well-known designer, commented.
