Birthday of the Center for African Studies
On August 30, experts of the Center, its partners and friends celebrated the Center’s Birthday, as well as discussed current and future projects.
The birthday party brought together leading Russian Africanists, federal officials, African countries’ envoys (from Algeria, Burundi, Benin, and the Central African Republic), business representatives, as well as scientists and experts from both HSE and other Russian universities.
Director Andrey Maslov opened the event, summarized the results over the past four years and spoke about future initiatives. Anastasia Likhacheva, Dean of the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs, presented a new educational track aimed at in-depth study of African countries. Vsevolod Sviridov, Deputy Director of the Center, spoke about the forthcoming handbook “Africa 25” dedicated to strategic issues of cooperation with African countries. Anastasia Pavlenko, Deputy Executive Director, Director for Strategic Partnerships of the non-state development institute “Innopraktika” presented the e-Governance Knowledge Sharing Program & Hub.
Fyodor Lukyanov and other prominent experts in the field of international relations congratulated the Center with its birthday.
