On December 20, 2016 the School of World Economy started a series of academic and research seminars. The first one was opened by a speech of Eduard Dzhagityan, the School’s Associate Professor, on the topic: “Banking regulation of the processes of banking consolidations as a factor of financial stability.”

First-year students in the Masters’ programme on Socio-political and Economic Development of Modern Asia recently took part in a number of conferences by serving as interpreters at the events for official foreign delegations.

HSE has held the latest Alumni Awards ceremony, presented awards to the best alumni and organized the auction to benefit HSE Endowment.

Eduard Dzhagityan, Associate Professor of the School of World Economy spoke at the 4th European Conference on Banking and the Economy on topic: “Regulation of M&A in the banking industry as a contributor to financial stability”.

On September 26th, 2016,  the 2nd International Student Conference ‘Russia and Egypt: Joint Future’ was held at HSE. The event was organized by the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs with the support of the Egyptian Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs and the Egyptian Youth National Organization. Students and doctoral students from Cairo University and several Russian universities took part in the event.

Natalia Milovantseva, Associate Professor at the School of World Economy, presented the report ‘Global Inequalities in Human Capital Formation: Provision of Pre-Primary Education Based on Data for 163 Countries’ at the international conference ‘Inequalities: Addressing the Growing Challenge for Policymakers Worldwide,’ held at the London School of Economics. The event was organized by the Association for Public Policy Analysis and Management.

An article of the Dean of the School of World Economy and International Affairs S. Karaganov co-authored with PhD students of the school D. Novikov and K. Chernyavskaya “Russian Foreign Policy: Risky Successes” was published in the Spring issue of Harvard International Review. The article focuses on provisional results and perspectives of the Russian foreign policy.

On July 6, 2016, the VI International Russian-Chinese Summer School on International Affairs came to a close. Run jointly by the HSE Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs and East China Normal University, with sponsorship provided by the Gorchakov Fund, this year’s school focused on the role of institutions in the new global governance architecture.

Alexander Lukin, head of the Department of International Relations at National Research University Higher School of Economics, published an article on the magazine's website "The National Interest"
