On Tuesday, October 27, an online meeting was held with Svetlana Babenkova, Senior Researcher at the Center for Arab and Islamic Studies, IVRAN, Ph.D., MBA. The discussion was organized as part of a series of online expert seminars “Contemporary Area Studies” of the Department of Foreign Regional Studies, Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs, HSE University, with the assistance of the Russian Middle East Association.
On October 22, at the invitation of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in the Russian Federation (accredited to the Republic of Belarus), Evgeny Kanaev, Professor of School of International Regional Studies, delivered a guest lecture to young diplomats from the embassies of the Asia-Pacific countries, as well as to young Russian experts.
On Thursday, October 1, within the framework of the online seminar “Contemporary Area Studies”, a meeting was held with a political scientist, senior lecturer at the RUDN University, who received his Ph.D. from the University of Salzburg, the author of the KamranLeaks Telegram channel Dr. Kamran Gasanov on the topic “European unity during the civil war in Libya (2015-2020)”.
On Wednesday, September 30, within the framework of the permanent online project “It's worth talking about”, an online meeting was held withAndrey Baklanov, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation, the current state adviser of the Russian Federation of the first class, the head of the research sector of the Middle East and North Africa of the Department of Foreign Regional Studies at the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs of the HSE. Professor Baklanov delivered the speech titled “5 years of Russian military action in Syria: results and prospects for the situation.”
On Thursday, September 24 Dr. Imad Rizk, Director of Institute for Strategic and Communication Studies in Lebanon (Isticharia-ISCS) gave the lecture on the topic “The Future of Lebanon & New Balance of Power in East Mediterranean”.

The book is the outcome of the conference "f Globalization in Contemporary Asia" held on November 20-21, 2019.
On Wednesday, July 24, the nineteenth online meeting of the project “Contemporary Area Studies” organised by the School of International Regional Studies of the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs, HSE University closed the season of expert seminars with the lecture of Ghoncheh Tazmini, visiting fellow of the Middle East Center, LSE on the issue of “The Parameters of Russian-Iranian Partnership in the Middle East”.
On Tuesday, June 23, within the framework of the project “Contemporary Area Studies” organised by the School of International Regional Studies of the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs, HSE University, a lecture on “The Prospects for Trade and Economic Cooperation between Russia and the GCC Countries at the Present Stage” was delivered by Dr. Abdullah Valid Latif, Associate Professor of Baghdad University.
On Thursday, June 18, Hamid Ait El Caid, Moroccan Independent Political Analyst presented the topic “Morocco’s response to COVID-19: Challenges and Prospects” within the framework of the project “Contemporary Area Studies” organised by the School of International Regional Studies of the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs, HSE University. The meeting was organized and moderated by Professor Vera Vishnyakova, Head of the HSE School of International Regional Studies of the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs.
On Saturday, May 30, within the framework of the project “Contemporary Area Studies” organised by the School of International Regional Studies of the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs, HSE University Argun Başkan, Doctor Lecturer, Department of International Relations, Ege University, Turkey presented the topic “Turkey and the Challenges of the COVID-19 Pandemic”.
