The Online Conference of Young Researchers at the V International Conference – The World Majority in New Realities: The Regional Dimension

The Online Conference was held on December 1st and consisted of two parts: «Joint session of PhD students of Dalian University of Foreign Languages and HSE University» and «Sections of young researchers». The first part was dedicated to the reports of PhD students of both universities, their exchanging views and finding new ideas. The second part was focusing on research of masters’ and bachelors’ students. The directions of the presented research touched on various regions such as Central, South, Northeast and Southeast Asia, Middle East, Europe, Latin and North America.

The session titled “Middle East Countries and the New Financial and Economic World Order: the Region's Potential, Prospects of Interaction With the Russian Federation” was organized in the context of the project activities carried out by the School of Regional Studies aimed at developing practical proposals on this topic. The moderator of the section was Professor, Head of the Middle Eastern and North African Studies Section of the School of Regional Studies at the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs of HSE University, Deputy Chairman of the Association of Russian Diplomats, Dr. A.G. Baklanov.

Session 'Western Politics and Institutions in New Reality' which took place on the first day of the conference, on the 30th of November 2023 (moderator Galina Nikiporets-Takigawa) brought together scientists from the Department of International Regional Studies, other Departments of WE&IA Faculty, and other major research centers working in the field of research of the ‘world minority’.

“North-East Asia (China, North and South Korea, Japan, Mongolia): Regional Asymmetries, Challenges and Security Resources'Section”
The section “North-East Asia (China, North and South Korea, Japan, Mongolia): Regional Asymmetries, Challenges and Security Resources” was moderated by Prof. S.G. Luzyanin (HSE University) and took place within the framework of the study of Russia's East Asian pivot, the specifics of China's rise in the region and the world, and Korean, Japanese, and Mongolian regional issues. Twelve speakers, representing HSE University, MGIMO University of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, the Institute of China and Contemporary Asia of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, focused on the key issues of the conference agenda – the reaction of the World's majority in new realities. The section's task was to shed light on the specifics of country and regional processes, large infrastructure projects (the “One Belt, One Road” initiative, Tumangan, etc.) in Northeast Asia, using examples from China, Japan, South Korea, and Mongolia.

On December 1st, the School of Regional Studies of the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs of the HSE University received Latin American diplomats and scholars to conduct a debate the role of the region in the formation of a multipolar world. The debate “Latin America in the Context of Formation of the World Multipolarity” was held under the auspices of the 5th International Conference “The World Majority in New Realities: the Regional Dimension”.
