East and West in the New Transformation Phase: Asia Encountering the Challenges of Globalization
On December 16-17, 2020, experts, diplomats, regional and oriental scholars from 36 countries and six regions of Russia met on the virtual platform of the Higher School of Economics to discuss new trends of regionalization and de-globalization in the world development. These trends were vividly manifested in Asia during the last year - the period of extraordinary upheaval caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

On December 8, 2020, within the framework of the permanent online project “It’s worth talking about”, online meeting was held withAndrey Baklanov, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation, the  State adviser of the Russian Federation of the first class, the Head of the research sector of the Middle East and North Africa of the School of International Regional Studies of the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs of the HSE. The theme of the meeting was “Turkey: opponent or partner?”
