On January 20, 2021, The Center for Comprehensive European and International Studies (CCEIS HSE) and the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs of the HSE University held a scientific seminar «Social and Humanitarian Policy of Spain in the humanitarian policy of Spain in Latin America».

Countries with reserve currencies, sufficient fiscal capacity to implement soft fiscal policies, and access to global capital markets have the best chance of recovering from the coronavirus crisis. The rest may need external assistance. These are the conclusions drawn by Alexei Kireyev, leading IMF economist and visiting professor at HSE University’s School of World Economy.

The Centre for Comprehensive European and International Studies (CCEIS) at the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs at the Higher School of Economics in Moscow invites applications for postdoctoral positions to play a key role in the Centre’s research projects in the following academic fields:

On December 16-17, 2020, experts, diplomats, regional and oriental scholars from 36 countries and six regions of Russia met on the virtual platform of the Higher School of Economics to discuss new trends of regionalization and de-globalization in the world development. These trends were vividly manifested in Asia during the last year - the period of extraordinary upheaval caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Maryam Azish – 2nd year student of the master’s programme "Socioeconomic and Political Development of Modern Asia": “Thanks to the excellent information I gained from my teachers in HSE, I have written several op-ed articles in famous news agencies and journals of the world. I consider the major contributors behind my achievement are the teachers of HSE Master’s Programme in Socioeconomic and Political Development of Modern Asia.”

Being a full-time Master student is a big challenge but our students can deal with it easily. Daria Galitsa, a second-year student of the programme “Socioeconomic and political development of modern Asia” talks about her path to HSE University, aspiration for Asian studies and the ability to find balance between studies and hobbies.

Lev Sokolshchik (PhD, Candidate of Science, a research fellow of the Centre of Comprehensive European and International Studies of HSE) as a member of the organizer team took part in the Working Group of the preparation the Second Camp of The Arms Control Negotiation Academy (ACONA). The general agenda of the camp is a multilateral strategic stability in the contemporary world. Preparation for the project (January 11–15, 2021) has been in process from October 2020 in the format of regular online meetings, during which the event program was prepared, the expert board was formed, and research projects' drafts of the Fellows were carried out.

Igor Pellicciari’s, Visiting Professor of the Department of International Relations, took a skeptical view of Russia's possible responsibility for massive hacking of U.S. government and private sector systems since March.

On December 10, 2020, Kutyrev Georgy, Researcher at the International Laboratory on World Order Studies and the New Regionalism, Associate Professor of the Department of International Relations, spoke on the topic:  “Infomedia and the distribution of “fake news” in the modern information space” during the International Scientific and Practical Conference for Students and Postgraduates “Russia and the World in the Era of Digitalization” that was held by Moscow Witte University.
