East and West in the New Transformation Phase: Asia Encountering the Challenges of Globalization
On December 16-17, 2020, experts, diplomats, regional and oriental scholars from 36 countries and six regions of Russia met on the virtual platform of the Higher School of Economics to discuss new trends of regionalization and de-globalization in the world development. These trends were vividly manifested in Asia during the last year - the period of extraordinary upheaval caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

HSE University and Harvard University in cooperation with partners have completed preparation for the Second Boot Camp of The Arms Control Negotiation Academy

Lev Sokolshchik (PhD, Candidate of Science, a research fellow of the Centre of Comprehensive European and International Studies of HSE) as a member of the organizer team took part in the Working Group of the preparation the Second Camp of The Arms Control Negotiation Academy (ACONA). The general agenda of the camp is a multilateral strategic stability in the contemporary world. Preparation for the project (January 11–15, 2021) has been in process from October 2020 in the format of regular online meetings, during which the event program was prepared, the expert board was formed, and research projects' drafts of the Fellows were carried out.

On Saturday, December 28th, within the framework of the on-going online seminar “Contemporary Area Studies” the School of International Regional Studies of the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs of HSE University organized a discussion with Ramezan Ali Marvi, Assistant Professor of Economics, Allame Tabatab'i University, on the theme “Russia and Iran: Islamic Finance and Energy Cooperation”.
