On November 10, the School of International Regional Studies of the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs, HSE University organized the II Student Conference named after Hussein Ajjawi “The Palestinian-Israeli Conflict: Past and Present”. For the first time in two years, the conference was held in the online format, which allowed a large number of participants and guests from different countries to join it.
Timofey Bordachev, the scientific director of CCEIS, published an article "Imperial Restraint of Russia" at the Valdai Discussion Club, in which he analyzes the necessary transformations of the Russian policy in the post-Soviet region.
On Thursday, November 5, the Department of Foreign Regional Studies of the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs of HSE University, within the framework of the permanent online seminar “Contemporary Area Studies” together with the Russian Middle East Association held a meeting with a well-known specialist in Arabic calligraphy, project director of Qatar University Dr. Ibrahim Fakhroo on the topic “The Journey with Arabic Calligraphy”.
On Friday, November 6, 2020 Dmitry Suslov, Deputy Director of the Center for Comprehensive European and International Studies and Senior Lecturer at the Department of International Relations at HSE University, gave a public online lecture “The US after the Presidential Elections 2020: Prospects for Foreign Policy and US-Russian Relations.”
HSE University’s Faculty of World Economy and International Affairshosted a series of events dedicated to the 30th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and the Republic of Korea. During the week, an international conference was held, followed by a presentation of the new Master’s programme ‘Economics, Politics and Business in Asia’, as well as a student Korean-language Olympiad.
On Tuesday, November 3, the Department of Foreign Regional Studies of the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs of HSE University, within the framework of the online seminar “Contemporary Area Studies”, held a meeting with an orientalist, international journalist, candidate of historical sciences, author of several books on the Korean Peninsula and the head of the Russian news media in East Asia, Oleg Kiryanov.
Kutyrev Georgy, Researcher at the International Laboratory on World Order Studies and the New Regionalism, National Research University Higher School of Economics, Ph.D., Associate Professor of the Department of International Relations, took part in the conference «Transformation of the Third Sector in the Digital Age», which was held on October 20-21, 2020 on the topic: "Civil society, political parties and social movements in the countries of the Iberian Peninsula".
On Tuesday, October 27, an online meeting was held with Svetlana Babenkova, Senior Researcher at the Center for Arab and Islamic Studies, IVRAN, Ph.D., MBA. The discussion was organized as part of a series of online expert seminars “Contemporary Area Studies” of the Department of Foreign Regional Studies, Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs, HSE University, with the assistance of the Russian Middle East Association.
An individual monograph "Mexico in the system of geopolitical coordinates of the beginning of the 21st century" by Ph.D. Ekaterina Yu. Kosevich, Research Fellow of the International Laboratory on World Order Studies and the New Regionalism of HSE University, has been published.
On October 22, at the invitation of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in the Russian Federation (accredited to the Republic of Belarus), Evgeny Kanaev, Professor of School of International Regional Studies, delivered a guest lecture to young diplomats from the embassies of the Asia-Pacific countries, as well as to young Russian experts.
