The section took place on the first day of the conference.

On December 1^st, the School of Regional Studies of the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs of the HSE University received Latin American diplomats and scholars to conduct a debate the role of the region in the formation of a multipolar world. The debate “Latin America in the Context of Formation of the World Multipolarity” was held under the auspices of the 5^th International Conference “The World Majority in New Realities: the Regional Dimension”.

The section was held on November 30, 2023. It focused on building a conceptual framework for regional studies as a separate scientific direction.

Anton Klyuev, fifth-year student of the Bachelor’s in Asian and African Studies, and Artem Saenko, graduate of the same programme, have won the European round of the Qatar’s Debate competition, beating 11 teams from non-Arabic-speaking countries.

Lev Sokolshchik, an associate professor of the School of International Regional Studies and research fellow of the Centre for Comprehensive European and International Studies (CCEIS), has published an article in the Russian Politics journal.

On October 4, 2023, Alexander Marchukov made a presentation on the topic “Comparative analysis of public diplomacy of the EU and China in Latin America” at the VI international forum “Russia and Iberoamerica in a turbulent world: history and modernity” at St. Petersburg State University.

On the 8th of April, an international student conference “Iranian foreign policy: the potential of Iran’s cooperation with Russia” was held, presenting the results of the project under the guidance of Dr. Mehdi Sanaei and Elmira Imamkulieva.
