On January 28, 2026, the Centre for Water Resources Research of the Institute for Economics of Natural Resources and Climate Change at HSE University held its first Water Workshop. Participants discussed institutional constraints and opportunities for regional cooperation in the field of water security, with a particular focus on Kazakhstan.

An article by Igor Makarov, Director of the HSE Institute for Economics of Natural Resources and Climate Change, co-authored with Elizaveta Smolovik, Junior Research Fellow at the Laboratory for the Climate Change Economics, has been published in Energy Research & Social Science, one of the leading international journals in the field of energy and social research. Researchers from the “Approaches to an Alternative International Monetary System” project, Alexandra Morozkina and Ekaterina Bakhmeteva, shared their findings at the International Research Forum hosted by the Russian-Armenian University's Department of Economics and Finance.

On December 11, 2025, a special event was held to mark the launch of the Institute for Economics of Natural Resources and Climate Change at the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs of HSE University. The programme featured presentations by the heads of the Institute’s divisions outlining its key areas of work, the launch of a special issue of the journal  Contemporary World Economy, and an expert discussion on the outcomes of COP30 in Brazil.

On 9 December 2025, the Institute of World Military Economy and Strategy, jointly with the Autonomous Non-Profit Organization Directorate of International Transport Corridors, held a roundtable entitled “The Role of the International North–South Transport Corridor in Rethinking Eurasia’s Transport Framework” within the framework of the 7th International Conference “The Global Majority and the West amid Geo-economic and Civilizational Transformations.” The roundtable was conducted with the support of Russian Science Foundation Grant No. 25-68-00031.

On 9 December 2025, within the framework of the Seventh International Conference “The World Majority and the West in the Context of Geo-economic and Civilizational Transformations,” the Institute of  International Defense Economy and Strategy organized a panel entitled “The Collective West: Internal and External Challenges.” The panel brought together representatives of HSE University, the Primakov National Research Institute of World Economy and International Relations (IMEMO RAS), and MGIMO University.

On December 9, as part of the VII International Conference “The World Majority and the West amid Geoeconomic and Civilizational Transformations”, the section “Southeast Asia: between the Collective West and the World Majority” took place. The section was organized by the School of International Regional Studies (SIRS), Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs. It was moderated by Dr.Sc (History), SIRS Professor Evgeny Kanaev. English was the working language of the section.
