On May 13, 2026, the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs hosted a seminar of the International Academic Cooperation Project “Approaches to an Alternative International Monetary System” on the topic “Sovereign Risk Mitigation Mechanism in Emerging Markets”. On April 15, 2026, as part of the XXVI April International Academic Conference named after Evgeny Yasin, a roundtable of the International Academic Cooperation Project “Approaches to an Alternative International Monetary System” was held on the topic “Beyond the Dollar: Prospects for International Settlements in National Currencies”.

From April 14 to 17, our students studying in Rostov-on-Don under the two-degree program of the National Research University of Higher School of Economics and the Southern Federal University "Caucasus and the Middle East in the system of regional and International Relations" visited the Higher School of Economics. This is a joint network program on foreign regional studies, supervised by the Faculty of World Economics and World Politics of the National Research University Higher School of Economics and the Institute of Sociology and Regional Studies of the Southern Federal University. The student delegation consisted of eight representatives of the 3rd and 1st year students, as well as Anna Shapovalova, Associate professor at the Institute of Sociology and Regional Studies. The visit was timed to coincide with the E. G. Yasin International Conference held at the Higher School of Economics.

In late March 2026, an official meeting took place between a delegation from HSE University and delegations from Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU); the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; and the Embassy of Vietnam in the Russian Federation. The participants discussed key areas of cooperation that will help strengthen ties not only between the universities, but also between the two countries.

Russian Regions Face Different Levels of Climate Vulnerability: Forbes Article on Russia’s Climate Adaptation Plans
Igor Makarov, Director of the HSE Institute for Economics of Natural Resources and Climate Change, and Elizaveta Smolovik, Junior Research Fellow at the HSE Laboratory for Climate Change Economics, together with Alexander Chernokulskyand Tatiana Aniskina from the HSE Faculty of Geography and Geoinformation Technologies, have published an article in Forbes Russia examining climate risks across Russian regions. The authors presented the findings of a study that ranks Russian federal subjects according to their vulnerability to the impacts of climate change.
